Purpose
The purpose of this project was to create vinyls and gator boards for the Pittsburg State University Art Department galleries and to create a new PSU Art Department logo sticker.
Target Audience
This is directed to attending Pittsburg State University students and the communities surrounding Pittsburg, KS.
Problem Solving
For this project, the challenge was resizing each vinyl and gator board artboard, font families, and font sizes to fit the content needed and artists' requirements. Another challenge I had for this project was to create new PSU Art Department sticker logo concepts.

Vinyls and Gator Boards
When working on vinyl and gator boards for the PSU Art Department they send me an email over Microsoft Outlook with a Word document attached. This has all the content needed to create the vinyl and gator boards for the upcoming gallery exhibits. Taking the content within the Word documents I placed it into the templates already created by the previous intern on Adobe Illustrator and sent it off for approval through the head of the PSU Art Department James Oliver. After the approval, I send it over to PSU printing services to be printed.
Vinyls
When I first started working with vinyls for the PSU Art Department I was given a template by the previous Intern that included the artboard size, font family for both title and name of the artist, and font size. They were:
              Artboard Size- 40x11in
Font Family for Title- Futura medium
Font Family for Name- Futura medium italic
              Font Size- 325pt
Unless specified by the artist or depending on how much content is written.
For Jo-Ann Morgan's gallery exhibit her vinyl measurements and font family's included:
              Artboard Size- 75x11in
Font Family for Title- Futura medium
Font Family for Name- Futura medium italic
              Font Size- 325pt
For the PSU Art Department Faculty Exhibit I created two separate vinyls. The first vinyl was the title and name of the exhibit, and measurements and font families included:
              Artboard Size- 40x9in
Font Family for Title- Futura medium
Font Family for Name- Futura PT book oblique
              Font Size- 370pt
We made an adjustment to the font family for the name to make it look different from the second vinyl full of the names of faculty members.
The PSU Art Department second vinyl includes the names of the faculty members participating in the Faculty Exhibit, and the measurements and font families included are:
              Artboard Size- 40x15in
Font Family for Names- Futura medium italic
              Font Size- 200pt
Gator Boards
When I first started working with gator boards for the PSU Art Department I was given a template by the previous Intern that included the artboard size, font family for both title and name of the artist, and font size. They were:
              Artboard Size- 20x16in
Font Family for Artist Statement- Futura bold
Font Family for Content- Futura medium
              Font Size- Depends on content
The font family depends on what's specified by the artist.
For Jo-Ann Morgan's gallery exhibit her gator board measurements and font families included:
              Artboard- 20x20in
Font Family for Artist Statement- Futura bold
Font Family for Content- Futura medium
              Font Size- 34pt
For the PSU Art Department Faculty Exhibit I created two separate gator boards. The gator board's title and name of the exhibit measurements and font families included:
              Artboard Size- 24x30in
Font Family for Artist Statement- Futura bold
Font Family for Name- Futura medium
              Font Size- 38pt
We used two gator boards to ensure all of the content would fit and would still have readability for viewers in the gallery exhibits.
Vinyl and Gator Boards Mock-ups
These are the vinyl and gator boards shown to scale on a wall, so you can see how they look when printed in person.
PSU Stickers
The topic of new stickers was brought to me by the head of the PSU Art Department James Oliver. He wanted something that would enhance the PSU Art Department's sticker logo, so he asked me to create a few ideas of what an alternate logo could look like. Once I was finished James Oliver decided we would use a transparent PSU Art Department sticker logo.
The new PSU Art Department sticker was created on Adobe Illustrator. Using the pen tool and curvature pen tool I made the split face of the PSU gorilla, so as to have certain materials of choice show through it. The measurements and font family includes:
              Artboard Size- 3x2in
              Font Family- Arial regular
              PSU Font Size- 51pt
              ART Font Size- 50pt
After final edits and approvals, we used the sticker printing service website stickerapp.com. They have many materials you can choose between, the head of the PSU Art Department James Oliver decided to use the holographic material. When ordering the stickers we left a comment saying the yellow parts in the design we want holographic, that's how stickerapp.com knows what to print. So we went ahead and ordered 200 for $130, and it took only about a week and a half for them to have them printed and shipped to us.
