HIBI, meaning "day to day" in Japanese, is a tableware collection by KINTO, designed to be timeless basics for the everyday table. HIBI's simple, contemporary forms, while made with traditional methods, are intended to fit in with modern life.
In keeping with this concept, they were looking for a contemporary design, this time using the indigo dyeing technique. The design had to be able to accommodate the modern diet, which is a blend of Japanese and Western styles.
I created two designs that would bring a breath of fresh air to the dining table: Soar, with its open curves and use of delicate line elements, and Ray, with its straight lines and tidy look.
