Throughout this course, I took a multi-disciplinary approach to demonstrate and model ways of working in small groups, teams, and as an individual. I developed creative skills in technically mediated imaging practices, which are highly valued by leading design and technology employers. The self-directed learning approach I adopted in the course prepared me for multiple career paths that require continual up-skilling and lifelong learning.
I found that collaborative learning, based on the model that knowledge can be created through active interaction and shared experiences, was particularly effective. The collaborative teaching methodologies and learning environments supported me and my peers to engage in common tasks, where each of us depended on and was accountable to each other. This was facilitated through face-to-face conversations, computer discussions, and various mixed genres, enhancing my learning experience significantly.
In this course, I explored the diverse and rapidly evolving nature of lens-based digital imagery as a discipline. It served as an introduction to both existing and emerging processes, aimed at developing, supporting, and enhancing my creative practice. I learned that conceptual sophistication and technical aptitude in this area are highly valuable qualities, as they enable us to create, document, and disseminate visual ideas more effectively.
I applied my understanding of the fundamental principles of digital imaging technologies in both still and moving image contexts. This involved completing three tasks that required capturing, editing, compositing, and outputting digital image materials.
In my assessment task, I strived to gain a personal grasp of the theoretical and practical aspects inherent in capturing, editing and presenting lens-based still and moving images. The goal was to quip myself with skills relevant across various contemporary disciplines. Throughout the task, I delved into the fundamentals of production, encompassing shot types, motion techniques, editing and compositing.
