For the ISTD Monotype competition brief, I was required to design a Type Specimen that showcased at least one font family from each section of Monotype’s chosen new and classic releases. A requirement of the competition was that the submission should engage the audience in new and exciting ways.

 

For the new release font, I chose to show Metro Nova.

 

I made the type specimen in the form of a book that contained two sections, the first section is like a normal type specimen in that it showed characteristics and information about the font and any variations within the family; whereas, the second section changes completely. I've put the font through it's paces in the hope to explore the font visually and allow the specimen to be reffered back to for inspiration and visual information.

 

I have also did another type specimen for one of their class releases, Trade Gothic Next.

 

Both type specimens had the same layout sot hat at section two, both type specimens could be placed next to each other to allow the reader to compare characteristics and features of the fonts.
