‘Poetic Fabric‘ project (‘Тканина віршів’ in Ukrainian) was exhibited during the International Arsenal Book Festival in Kyiv, Ukraine in May 2013.
The main idea was to illustrate good modern poetry in fabric. So I invited Ukrainian poets to send me their poems for illustrating. Then I chose 30 poems and created textile illustrations in freehand machine embroidery technique.
I illustrated the poems of Vasyl Karpyuk, Nika Kolonyuk, Oksana Lushchevska, Ostap Slyvynsky, Olena Stepanenko, Eliash Strongowski, Iryna Shuvalova and other modern Ukrainian poets.
All the fabric pieces were stitched into a single canvas. Also there were represented the texts of the poems that were written by the authors by hand.
