The Fall of Icarus
Graphite and Charcoal Pencil Drawing
I made this drawing wanting to incorporate detail and good composition. In order to accomplish this, I first got a reference that I wanted take inspiration from. I then made a sketch of the reference while also adding a few details of my own such as the feathers, and the cloth. I slowly added more detail and definition to the piece, attempting to make the drawing come off the page.
References:
I obviously took the most inspiration from the last reference, but I did also try to include aspects of the first two references in the piece. For example, I wanted the shading to be similar to the first reference while the angle of Icarus was inspired by the second reference. I also redirected the light source, in order to show more definition in the arms and torso.
