Aesthetika is a typeface design for enquiry that seeks to test the boundaries of function against those of Aesthetics. The typeface is intended to be used as a form of decoration and to be appreciated for it's visual qualities despite not being fully functional.

This book hints the thesis behind the typeface as it uses photography, type and graphics to show Aesthetika as a form of art, decoration and embellishment as well as highlighting the geometrical, symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing qualities of the typeface.

The font is free to download at http://www.dafont.com/aesthetika.font.
I hope to complete this font later in the year; however, it was not necessary to produce numbers and punctuation during this project as the typeface focused on aesthetics over function.

Making a mundane object, a toilet, into something visual.
A watermill that is no longer functional, only aesthetic.
Type used to show the geometric qualities of Aesthetika.
Grafitti, a form of art and decoration that can change something mundane, the wall, into something visually appealing.
A decorative journey.
The decoration on these gates add little function but can still be appreciated.
Mirror to express the symmetrical qualities of the font.
A clock that shows it's functional aspects visually.
Typographic patterns used to echo a wallpaper design.
Flowers can be appreciated, used to decorate the home and mark occasions. Lorem ipsum set in Aesthetika has also been used to express how the typeface could be used.
Fish are often appreciated for their aesthetics, this is similar to the idea behind Aesthetika.
Altering the perception of 'form follows function' to 'form over function'. The decorative counters from the letters can be appreciated as geometric forms, it is only when referring back to the typeface that the message would become clear.
Distorting type so that it is primarily visual.
Showing that Aesthetika could be admired for it's visual qualities as a form of art.
