With Nikon School in the Scottish Highlands

In the Scottish Highlands for a few days, learning how to photograph a variety of subjects and developing some new techniques with the Nikon School.
Bow Fiddle Rock, off the east coast by Portknockie.
Barnacles on a rock at Cullen Bay ...
... and objects on the beach.
The Old Pack Horse Bridge at Carrbridge in the Cairngorms.
Experimenting with light painting. Taken at dusk with a 15 second exposure and a lot of running around with lights.
Abandoned boat below Ben Nevis.
Near Spean Bridge is a memorial to Commandos, built on a hill with a view towards Ben Nevis.  If the conditions are right the sunset from there can be good.
Still and flowing water.  Polariser used to reduce reflections.
Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye. 5 second exposure to still the water.
Above Sligachan Bridge with the Black Cuillins and impending rain.
On the edge of Loch Ness. Exposure of 1/30 of a second.
Old boat house on a loch.  Nothing is moving very quickly here so a 30 second exposure has been used to still the ripples and blur some of the trees.
ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) in a wood with Silver Birch trees.  1 second exposure and the camera moved vertically downwards during the shot.
Highland cow and farm setting ...
... one of the advantages of a long lens is that you don't have to get too close to the subject.
4 second exposure to change the texture of the water.  The low late afternoon light works well on the autumn foliage.
