In the realm of manufacturing, sheet metal bending is reasonable in cost, but also excellent durability, and can be produced in small quantities. Slate Design aims to produce products that exude premium aesthetics without sacrificing affordability, tailored for compact living spaces.
The first product being the Slate Stand where every edge gracefully curves, transcending the harsh industrial essence typically associated with metal. The stand face and top valley subtly embrace a nuanced angle, ushering a natural organization of items. Slate Design believes in the marriage of form and function, elevating everyday objects into artful essentials for the discerning renter.
Every detail has been considered, creating an honest and clean design that keeps notes, lists and anything important visible while hiding distractions underneath. Colours were carefully considered to evoke a premium but welcoming feel that looks at home in any environment.
The design of the Slate Stand revolved around the sheet metal bending process. Exploring and prototyping designs that resulted in different interactions before down-selecting in one that created the best user experience and functionality. Functionality of the stand focused on flexibility, allowing users to use it how they want.
