STRIPES

FARM XL Walls (120sqm extension)

The exploration begins with an interest in space.
Geometries, space, dynamism, optical illusion, alteration of visual perceptions – all these elements are present within the installation.

Through the use of the painterly tool, I aim to preserve the space's characteristics while outlining its potential. The six walls, positioned on six different levels in three-dimensional space, are "flattened" to a single two-dimensional level and then reimagined with three-dimensionality through the pattern used. This pattern strongly references the one used for Dazzle camouflage by Wilkinson to cover British warships during World War I, a technique employed to confuse enemy submarines – a form of camouflage. In the case of FARM XL, this element serves the opposite purpose.

Furthermore, depending on the viewing angle of the artwork, the letters M, A, K, and E can be composed. This is an evolution of lettering associated with hip-hop writing.

Spray cans and Masking Tape.
"Stripes" has been reimagined as merchandise for Farm Cultural Park in various forms, including postcards, posters, photographs, T-shirts, and shopping bags.
"Stripes" has been selected and featured in the book "Street Art In Sicilia.Guida ai luoghi e alle opere" by Mauro Filippi, Marco Mondino, and Luisa Tuttolomondo.
