Grandpa Typographic Portrait

As a way to honor my grandfather, I decided to use his face and words to create my first typographic poster. I used an old black and white image as a guide, and recollections from his letters, words, and data as text content.
I selected a few different fonts, making sure I had a mixture of light and bold fonts, serifs, sans serifs and handwritten styles.
I started with his name, Don Cesar Jesús, trying to use bold fonts for thick elements, and adjusting the type to the shape with envelope mesh in Illustrator.
I continued to add more of his phrases and words, making sure to use continuous text for long lines, such as the frame of the eyeglasses and his eyebrows.
After a few sessions, I finished covering every black shape with text.
