Room - Smart Home Sanitizer

How can a brand effectively market products for discerning post-COVID consumers, while also protecting its own proprietary technology? That was the challenge posed by Hong Kong healthcare companies, as they transitioned from rebranded humidifiers to their own patented air sanitation devices.

By helping the brand navigate value proposition, features and functionality, our design concept harmonized core intentions: user experience and contemporary modular design were emphasized, with smart technology enabling devices to incorporate innovation while simultaneously safeguarding its exclusive sanitisation refills.

The approach resulted in two core proprietary products – Room & Alfred – each sharing the same internal components but adjusting their designs for consumer or corporate functionality.
Product

Healthcare companies evolution to air sanitisation devices called for adaptable products that catered to home, office as well as larger venues such as hospitality.
Room & Alfred, designed for different environments, nevertheless share core components contributing to a device that is streamlined, powerful and efficient.

Motion sensor activates its complete 360-degree circulation, with effective sanitisation across a range of power settings, including standard, automatic, ecological consumption, and boosted that doubles the power. Output is remarkably minimal, with liquid drainage comparable to a coffee machine and exhaust powered by a high-performance fan.
Refills

Subscription models are increasingly defining the success of technology companies, so it was crucial for refills to marry progressive air purifying technology and an extended shelf-life with a proprietary model that resists replication.

Activations from mechanical, credit and QR were considered, before ultimately selecting NFC for its robust, seamless customer experiences. Upon inserting a two-litre refill and successfully engaging the device, internal pill-system blends with its liquid solution, initiating the sanitisation process. The device can accommodate up to eight litres at any given time.
Mobile App

To complement and contrast Room & Alfred’s streamlined design, we developed a user-centric app that expands functionality and prioritizes accessibility.

The app design adheres closely to healthcare principles, maintaining a clear and professional appearance that emphasizes and highlights expertise.

Within the app, extensive operationality empowers users to customize usage and experience based on their individual needs. Users can also effortlessly set schedules and manage refills subscriptions at ease, ensuring a seamless experience.
