Sokoon was my first attempt in designing an Arabic typeface, it is modern, practical and geometric. I was inspired by the Arabic Kufic Script, that's why I started my design process by researching how the Kufic Script developed in addition to its history and functions. This was followed by creating a moodboard and then I began sketching some of the letters; which I worked on enhancing in order to reach the final letterforms. Sokoon was a project, part of the 'Arabic Font Design' course I studied in 2014 at the German University in Cairo.
