Publishing company Lawrence King are proposing a series of publications profiling famous graphic communicators of our time. Called 'Design Profiles', this range is aimed at young designers, design students and anyone interested in key graphic stylists of the last 100 years.
For this project I chose to focus on famous graphic designer Susan Kare. Her iconic works for Apple and NeXT are still the core of icons used on modern iOS devices. As the project requires a collection of 4 designer books, I chose trailblazing women in graphic design: Susan Kare, Cipe Pineles, Elizabeth Friedlander and Jacqueline Casey. The key theme of the box set is reflection, as young designers open these books and reflect on what type of designers they could aspire to be, inspired by the chosen 4. The project plays on that theme by using reflective or metallic materials, symmetric grids and pages that mirror or complete eachother.
