KOIRA - KEY ART
DON’T NOD, the video game publisher, asked me to create the main key art of their next indie game: KOIRA. A beautiful poetic 2D game with a striking art direction & a traditional paint style.

I started by analysing game footage, see how main characters interacts between them, how the environment reacts.I always try to understand how some effects and rendering are done so I can emulates a bit for the key art.

On the first round, I usually send 3 to 6 sketches of what I think could be good. Sometimes it’s just black & white composition, sometimes I directly use colours to set the mood.

After this round, DON’T NOD came back with feedbacks and select some options I gave them.
From now on I will focus on a single image and start thinking more about shapes and colours:
