Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative

Input
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) has been introduced in Greece by the independent nonprofit Child Mind Institute, in partnership with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, with the vision to provide access to quality mental health care and resources to every child, adolescent and family in need. Collaborating with universities, hospitals and a network of Greek professionals specialized in child mental health and psychosocial care, the CAMHI Initiative will expand access to mental health care, particularly in the public sector. Under the guidance of the Child Mind Institute, the Initiative also offers ground-up resources in ways that can reinforce the critical work done by mental health and child protection providers across the country.

Output
We were approached by the Child Mind Institute to design a brand identity that would point up the Initiative’s scientific character, bring out hope for a world that is more inclusive and at the same time, feel friendly to all its receivers, including healthcare professionals, teachers and of course families and children. Our central idea was focused on the concept of an accessible, strong, open network that could also be associated with the function of a neural network of the human brain. A network that provides solutions and way outs, connection instead of isolation and support through deep scientific knowledge, yet never forgets its child-centered character.

The logo combined with a clean and balanced sans serif font served the organization’s scope to communicate in both languages, English and Greek, either at the same time or separately. For the main color palette, we chose deep and light blue, which are familiar with the healthcare sector and integrate perfectly with the color palettes of the Child Mind Institute as well as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation that support the initiative.

In addition, as the organization has 5 main addressees -  adolescents, caretakers, teachers, health professionals and researchers - the color palette expands further with one color for each group in order to achieve a more distinct and recognizable communication for every sub-action. Finally, a series of templates for print and digital use were designed to serve the organization's need for autonomy in its communication.
