JIDU Experience Store

The Animation.Monks team at Media.Monks expertly brought the intricately designed 3D characters, known as ROBO AVATARS, to life. These characters, a joint design effort by UV Zhu and the JIDU team, wear virtual clothes composed of multiple layered fabrics and textures. Each character was meticulously prepared and refined for motion, aiming for the most realistic movements. Enhanced with relatable, human-like expressions and gestures, these futuristic characters blur the boundaries between the real and virtual, offering a truly immersive experience.

These animated ROBO AVATARS are a central feature of 'ROBOVERSE'. This interactive in-store digital experience was conceptualized by Experience.Monks and developed by Tech.Monks for the launch of JIDU's first flagship store. JIDU, an automotive-robot-company, is a joint venture between Baidu, China's largest search engine, and Geely, a Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles. In this unique experience, visitors have the opportunity to create their own Robo-self, also known as ROBO AVATARS.

Gensler, the spatial design agency, was responsible for shaping the physical aspects of this project. Media.Monks was tasked with providing JIDU with a comprehensive in-store digital journey. This journey seamlessly connects online and offline experiences for the SanLiTun flagship and its WeChat mini program.

On October 24th, 2023, the project achieved the prestigious distinction of being awarded the "Motion Design Award Video of the Day." This recognition was a testament to the project's exceptional quality and was met with appreciation from both, panel of judges and the global community at large.















Here is a detailed walkthrough of the JIDU Experience Store.

Upon entry, the visitor is prompted to make their own Robo-Self, a virtual avatar that will accompany them on their virtual journey through the Experience Center’s vision of the ROBOVERSE . This Avatar interacts with the many digital touchpoints that follow throughout the space. Immersed in a digital environment, the Robo-Car is teleported it to worlds both real and digital. Flanking this experience are subtle concealed details and cabinets that reveal the many customisation options possible with the Robo-Car, a high-tech solution for a minimal space.
