The Modern Turban
Model: Chic Sikh
A few weeks ago I completed a class at the Iceland University of the Arts that revolved around creating a product for mass production and sales. It was supposed to be original and thought through. My solution was to design and make a Icelandic and modern version of the turban.
The turban has been in existence for many hundreds of years, so trying to make the design better turned out to be quite a challenge. What I did was that I essentially made it so that it was easier to wrap and made from materials that were warm enough for the Icelandic climate. Two versions of the Modern Turban emerged; the CHIC SIKH, made from a polyester/viscose blend with a timeless and respectable look, and the SUB ZERO, made from 100% wool and long enough to wrap around the neck into a scarf.
