Since 2018, the Sacramento, CA band Deftones have hosted an annual one day event as a celebration of the band’s legacy inspired by mexican Día de Muertos. Over the past 3 versions an eclectic line-up ranging from rock, hardcore, rap and electronic acts has taken over the PetCo Park in San Diego, California.
Inspired by this event and one of my favorite band, I came up with a main illustrated poster / key visual that could be extended into a range of digital assets, an apparel line and a limited edition beer.
For the visual inspiration was a mix between mexican references and graphic nods to the band’s discography, specially their self titled album that turns 20 years this year.
