SHE BLED
76 years later, we still need freedom...
To tell our brothers and fathers the pain we go through
To touch pickles and eat food like yours, with you
To be accepted and not be an outcaste in the homes we nurture
Freedom for my innocent sister in a town far away
Who was killed, for she bled
Her books snatched, for she bled
Body and mind attacked, for she bled
Named impure, for she bled
Freedom for my city girls and women; technology doesn’t make taboos go away
Wrapping pads in shame, for she bled
'Period leaves' trapped in glass ceilings, for she bled
blamed for raising her daughter wrong, for she bled
But today, we’ll take our freedom.
Because in 1947, she fought for yours, even when she bled
