The client requested two label designs for a stout and porter beer company. Their product would be mostly sold in local grocers, so the label needs to stand out among the competition and catch customers’ eye. The client requested that the beer labels be expressive while maintaining a dark color palette with a human touch.

In order to maintain a dark color palette while still making an expressive design that would catch the eye of shoppers, I chose to create a black and white design with a striking accent color. I hand drew the typography to produce that feeling of human touch. I sketched the head of a “mad man” for each of the labels to further distinguish the two beers and devote a special charm to each.

The design was all created in Adobe Photoshop with the hand drawn elements physically sketched, scanned, and then integrated into the digital project.
