My Avatar
This is the avatar I made for my Mediavormgeven assignment. I will be showing my process here.
The process:
Collage, Mindmap, sketches.
I started this project by cutting images I liked out of magazines and putting them together to form a collage. From there I made a Mindmap by writing down which words came to mind while looking at the collage. I made some small sketches to visualize the most important words.
Based on the ideas I had so far, I made a mood board for my avatar.
As well as a style board.
Based on my boards, I started trying out several pose- and style ideas for my avatar until I could settle on a design I really liked.
Digital sketches and color testing:
Once I had my design settled, I made some digital sketches in Photoshop. Doing this enabled me to try out several different color palettes. Some with darker, lighter, warmer or cooler colors. I ended up going with my initial pastel colored idea since it suited my idea best.
The final image and using AR:
I cleaned up my sketches until I had a final product I was happy with. Then I started working in BlippAR. I cut out several parts of my avatar so I could layer them in a 3D space for extra depth and make them move through animations. I also created a patterned background I could animate for a more interesting look.
Button template:
Finally, I took the button template provided to us and inserted my avatar into it. This project is now officially finished!
