Foldable Toilet Portable
The results of this study indicate that local potential can be a new perspective to take when developing sanitation facilities. The final result is a modular collapsible toilet as a compact sanitation facility on the basis of adjusting needs in limited conditions during the critical period in the early stages of a disaster. To anticipate the existing gap between the design for emergency needs and user habits, this modular toilet is designed to change the function and role by adjusting different modules. Kit Sanitation which deserves as a kit of parts, to be placed in locations that are easy to reach in an emergency or distributed to isolated areas.
In adjusting to the condition of limited water during the critical period at the start of a disaster, it is necessary to use water efficiently before aid arrives. Especially in conditions of limited water, the Kit Sanitary functions as a semi-dry toilet system that use disposable pads with hydrogel and bamboo charcoal ash as an odor-reducing antibacterial agent to seal and dry waste was only used in the early days of a disaster emergency. Meanwhile, in the area around the water source, the disposal mechanism can be adjusted and replaced with a conventional channel connected to a septic tank behind public furniture that has been prepared beforehand.
The final prototyping process which is adjusted to local capabilities, the manufacture of the main frame is the initial aspect that is used as the basis for the form in ensuring the feasibility of making and assembling the product. It was found there are several local materials that are easy to find around disaster-prone areas and scientifically it turns out that they also have characteristics suitable for the needs of sanitation facilities. However, the local based manufacturing capabilities do not meet the criteria or standards in manufacturing, especially in terms of hygiene aspects.
