Screwdriver SD-1

SD-1
SD-1 is a screwdriver concept designed for home use.

Rightfully or wrongfully, I've always had a gripe with the lack of home-use-focused power tool design. With SD-1 I wanted to create a solution that focused unequivocally on use, specifically use in the home by a lay-user. Importantly, for this to be a worthwhile concept, the design had to use proprietary components where possible and stay close to current manufacturing methods used in power tools. It would have been easy to create a 5-axis machined aluminum body that only Apple would be capable of pulling off...

Some of the design highlights:
The rocker switch simplifies the task to its bare core, is it going in or out? The push-activated motor ensures the rocker can't be triggered when the device isn't in use. A ring of LED's, hidden inside the body, doubles SD-1 up as a flashlight.
A screw countdown, like a mileage clock in a modern car, gives a useful update on the battery status; because what does 4 bars of battery actually mean to someone who puts a few flat packs up a year?
The rear clamshell is shrouded by woven fabric. Providing grip and softer aesthetics, the fabric's primary goal is to allow airflow, preventing the need for stylised vents.
