The Sound of Paper

Have you ever wondered what different kinds of paper sound like?
During this one week project, we explored the sound of different kinds of paper by creating paper vinyl samples and later playing them on a turntable.
The sounds being generated are the result of different textures, patterns, thicknesses and other variables that define this familiar yet surprising material. In addition, specific frequencies are isolated, amplified and processed by using various effects which generate and add tones to the audio track.
During this week we had the opportunity to play both with digital and analog aspects in a cohesive way. Besides touch, we managed to engage one more of our senses when handling paper; to hear it.
