The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor, awarded for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. Each time the White House selects a new recipient that has served in the U.S. Army. He calls upon the ARMY.mil team. Below is a break down of Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts
The Packet:
The Official Nomination Packet that is sent to The President of the United States, is also shared with the Army.mil team. What’s in the packet? The Packet typically has detailed first hand accounts of the battle/conflict, narrative, maps, and photos.
Tell The Story:
Once the packet has been reviewed then it’s our job to sift through and pull what we would like to use on the website, and what we fill would be the most engaging way to share the recipients story on a first hand account. Additional research is done on the recipient, as we will research basic information to his Military background. This information is used to paint a picture of who the recipient is, and why they are so deserving of the award

The Design Team spent the day with Ryan Pitts interviewing him and asking detailed questions about the battle to get a better understanding of what happened. This is a small snippet from the larger 2 hour interview we had wih Ryan.

As part of the Medal of Honor site redesign, our focus was to update the design so that it was more engaging for our users. I looked at the last site designed for the Medal of Honor and made adjustments, and even made the choice to combine the News and Multimedia Pages as our stats showed that they where the least visited pages.
