The secondary projects menu appears over the displayed design piece, this is a deliberate design addition. The menu will continue to expand across the width of the image area until it reaches the image description on the right hand-side.

The gallery page contains the images, there descriptions and slideshow controls which are the obvious Prev / Next text (buttons) and the not so obvious squares bellow. The squares will also cross out when an image has been looked at.
