Freia Regia Atica

The task was to create the packaging for a (fictional) new line of Regia cocoa powder with added flavors (chili, orange & caramel) for Norways largest chocolate manufacturer: Freia. The brief stated that they wanted the new line to be directed primarily towards adults and to become an alternative for adults to treat themselves with a hot drink besides coffee & tea.

We chose to take inspiration from the origin of the cocoa bean (South America) to compliment the exotic theme of flavoured cocoa powder and create something that would clearly differentiate itself from other hot chocolate products. The illustrations of the South American calendar girls gives the packaging the unique looking "the one with the South American women on" effect that makes it easy to identify among the other products on the shelf. The name Atica is the aztec word for the first cocoa drinks consumed by native South Americans.
