RESPONSIVE LANDSCAPE: Resilience of the urban park

This project addresses the challenges faced by spa areas in the face of increasingly intense and evident climate change. How to preserve and strengthen the natural conditions that enable the existence of such areas in relation to inevitable global changes. How to create a space that shapes dynamic social and ecological processes capable of adapting to changing conditions over time, and how to communicate with such environments. The assumption is that, with the help of architecture, infrastructure, and technology, if treated as a hybrid, a solution can be found in transforming into a responsive landscape - landscape that reacts and evolves, responding more quickly to changes and behaving like a living organism. Accordingly, this project aims to develop a strategy for transforming the spa area into a resilient responsive landscape, using the specific example of the urban spa park "Bukovička Banja" in Aranđelovac. An analysis was conducted by collecting and mapping information on the natural conditions of the area, including vegetative, topographic, and hydrographic characteristics. The predicted consequences of their existence, such as temperature, humidity, and pollutants, were synthesized. Treating the park as a living organism, which should guarantee resilience, is conceptualized through the components of homeostasis - the skills of a living organism to maintain an optimal range despite changing environmental conditions.
