Two brothers and one awesome present for their mums 50th birthday. Leigh asked me to take a few portraits of him and his brother for there mums birthday pressent.
So we set out to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens to take a few photographs. They wanted some cheesy smiley brotherly love portraits to frame for there mum. they arrived in matching white shirts very photogenic which made my job that much easier.
I had a lovely pair of assistents (Ida and Ashley) to hold my gear and one speedlight and modifier. For most of the shots I used a Lumo Pro lp180 inside a westcott appolo octo softbox (43inch).
In post I gave them all a pop of colour and contrast. In the end there was about 20 photos to choose from and I coverted most to black and white aswell to give them that choice aswell.
I learnt that with using optical sync with the flash inside the octo softbox paired with my Nikon full frame and 70-200 the flash began to find it difficult to see the flash past about 150mm full body shot. as the sun came out i began to have to up the on board flash power to 1/8 and block the light with my hand because it would otherwise effect the image and give nasty straight on catch lights in the eyes. some radio flashes or triggers are definatly on the wish list now. posibly the Cactus RF60 and the Flash tranceiver v6, any advisement there would be much appreciated below.
