With an unrestricted brief to package a chosen object, sense or feeling. I packaged the idea of the Seven Deadly Sins using the concept of Russian dolls, where the packaging is nested inside each other.
CONCEPTING:

During my research, I discovered packaging of all shapes and sizes, which led me to come up with unconventional packaging ideas. During my concept phase, I tried to create packaging based on feelings and emotions. This led me to focus on the Seven
Deadly Sins.
RESEARCH & IDEATION:

The main idea is "The Seven Deadly Sins." I started to focus on packaging that was groups and sets. This led to me discovering the Blokoshka packaging and taking the idea of the Russian doll aspect into my own packaging.
From the research, I came up with an idea of how the Seven Deadly Sins would look when nested inside each other, using the Russian doll concept. I also thought about adding personality to each of the packages by giving them facial features.
When making the Seven Deadly Sins. I incorporated patterns and colours that could be associated with each sin. I gave each sin its specific colours based on my view and also compared the choices made in other Seven Deadly Sins themed projects that I found during my research. The patterns that accompany each sin are intended to establish the personality of the packaging and the sin itself. For example, Wrath has sharp triangles to indicate the danger that fall under the umbrella of Wrath.
STORYTELLING ASPECT:

The space on the back of the packaging was to be used for illustrated poems that would tell the target audience about each sin in an engaging way. This was later changed to a game as the illustration that went with the poem might not be appropriate. The game, inspired by the guessing game on the Smarties packaging, is a more engaging way to educate the target audience.
OUTER PACKAGING:
After concentrating on the Seven Deadly Sins set, I began to focus on the outer packaging that would contain it, similar to the idea of a vessel containing sins. My idea revolved around the Russian doll.
DEVELOPMENT:
I started to design an interactive activity around the packaging. I wanted the outer packaging to be the opposite of the Seven Deadly Sins set. As they are colourful, the outer packaging should be colourless. This also worked as a colouring activity.
FINAL OUTCOME:
The outer packaging is used as a colouring activity and as a contrast to the Seven Deadly Sins which are in colour.
This part of the packaging contains the Seven Deadly Sins as a vessel. It has two activities for the target audience to interact with. One activity is a colouring activity and the other is an exploration activity where they have to learn about the sins.
This part of the packaging presents the Seven Deadly Sins in an order that, in my opinion, shows the sin that the target audience commits most often to least often.
I made gluttony the greatest sin because I think children like to eat. I used orange because it is associated with gluttony and I used a pattern associated with eating.
I ended the Seven Deadly Sins packaging with Desire, which is a rebranding of Lust. Because my logic was that I didn't think kids that age would be interested in the idea
of love.
