As part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the “Institute Effect” Project, I took part in the “Institutare” workshop, by Fabrica, with Sam Baron, Catarina Carreiras and Ryu Yamamoto.
For a week, a team of young graphic and product designers worked at MUDE (Fashion and Design Museum) in Portugal, preparing the graphic image and some furniture for each of the 12 institutes on residence between September and December 2013.
I chose to work on the graphics for Urban Think-Tank, "an interdisciplinary design practice dedicated to high-level research and design on a variety of subjects, concerned with contemporary architecture and urbanism". UT-T have won a Gold Lion in the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale with their film "Torre David". Torre David is a huge unfinished skyscraper in Caracas' city centre, which has been occupied by whole families, who have adapted and transformed it to their own needs.
The concept for my proposal was based on the idea of a work in progress, that goes beyond the surface and builds itself upon different layers (a contrast of materials, people, ideas).
