And now the translation of the medical excerpt issued by the translation site

The common pathway of liver diseases is cirrhosis, which can decompensate and lead to the development of complications such as encephalopathy, which is etiopathogenically related to hyperammonemia developed by hepatic dysfunction. It is suggested that substances capable of interfering with serum ammonia levels can be used in its management. Caffeine (CFA) increases urea cycle activity in the liver, promoting ammonia degradation. Additionally, by antagonizing adenosine receptors, it exerts a hepatoprotective effect, preventing fibrosis formation and central nervous system stimulation effects. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of CFA on the progression of secondary biliary cirrhosis induced by common bile duct ligation, correlating its use with the development of encephalopathy caused by hyperammonemia produced by the hepatic disease. An experimental model of secondary biliary cirrhosis was induced by common bile duct ligation, and hepatic encephalopathy was induced by the administration of a hyperproteic diet. Male Wistar rats (32) were equally divided into 4 groups. The experiment lasted 28 days, with the administration of CFA at 50mg/Kg/day. Laboratory tests, histological analysis of liver and brain, open field behavioral test (OFT), and daily behavioral analysis were performed.
