BWA 1980. Ocalone / Zapomniane POSTER

KEY VISUAL, GRAPHICS AND POSTER DESIGN FOR AN EXHIBITION BWA 1980. Ocalone / Zapomniane
Państwowa Galeria Sztuki w Sopocie

The exhibition BWA 1980. Saved / Forgotten reminds us of the fire in the pavilion of the Bureau of Artistic Exhibitions (predecessor of the National Art Gallery in Sopot), which took place on April 14, 1980. As a result of the fire, the seat of the gallery was destroyed, and a large part of the collection was also consumed by the fire. Unfortunately, the scale of the losses was huge and 280 works of art were lost - paintings, graphics, sculptures of famous artists from Pomerania, Poland. The selection of works, although it takes into account only some of the surviving works, very well exemplifies the richness and diversity of the art collections accumulated over several decades. The exhibition included works by Mieczysław Baryłko, Kiejstut Bereźnicki, Władysław Jackiewicz, Hugon Lasecki, Zdzisław Kałędkiewicz, Włodzimierz Łajming, Teresa Miszkin, Jerzy Ostrogórski, Adam Smolana, Kazimierz Śramkiewicz, Stanisław Żukowski. Most of the works will be made available to the public for the first time in many decades.
