Textile City

Textile City is an unconventional guide for discovering hidden traces and designing the access to places, their stories and memories, related to textile and fabric manufactures.

The project is inspired by the city of Leeds where two main characteristics rise: the former concerns the continuous transformation of its urban aspect, the latter is in the textile heritage which influenced the city developments since its origins. The guide allows people to freely discover the city through these points of view using a system of devices: a smartphone app, a website and blog and a wayfinding system.
It’s a digital guide with smart and quick curiosities about history and building through words and images.
It’s a way to get lost and find your path in the hidden memories of the city. It’s a new way to dress up your city and communicate its identity.
It’s a link between past, present and future of the city and a tool for involving citizens in the ongoing transformations.

Textile city connects people allowing them to re-discover their city on the path of the textile heritage and creating link between different cities.
