Relationship is powerful yet fragile.
It can build or ruin a person.
Strangely, the more it is repaired when broken,
the stronger it gets.
However, often people find it tough
to rebuild the ruins in their relationships
and when their broken hearts were left defenceless
against the reality of life,
their hearts had frozen and harden.
Rebuilding Ruins is a self explorative design experience where the participent interacts with it. Rebuilding Ruins was not made for the weak. It was made only for those who desire to have their relationships repaired.

It aims to get the users out of their comfort zone through a 40 days of challenge. Each challenge is inprinted onto a unique block. When the users complete a challenge everyday they are to stack that block, eventually building a tower that symbolise their journey.

The block tower will not be perfect, just like how you can never have a perfect relationship with another person.

At the end of it all, Rebuilding Ruins wishes to bring this message across:

"Relationship can only be strong through committment ."
Inspired by the Book of Nehemiah in the Bible and the Chinese Roman Catholic St Peter & St Paul Church in Singapore, the toolkit is design to exhibit elements from these 2 cultures, Israelites and the Chinese. The packaging is made in the form of a Chinese dining table as Singapore Chinese families bond together through meal times while the rectangular shaped symbolises a block, blocks that were use to rebuild the ruined city walls of Jerusalem .
The rectangular plate is a personal object used during meal times, hence using it as the foundation it represents the individual efforts to take the initiative to repair the ruins.
Every block is unique, just like how every part of a relationship is .
Every challlenge aims to kick you out of your comfort zone.
Once done with the challenge, the users are to stack the blocks starting from a 3x3 square base to form their own unique structure.
The result? A much as one might try to create a perfect structure, it is impossible without 1st knowing how to fit each pieces together. Similarly, our relationships cannot be build perfectly , but the uniqueness of it is something others will not be able to achieve.
Inside the Toolkit
