When the storm ends

World War II veterans describe the overwhelming noise of bomb explosions, the whine of bullets, the roar of plane engines and the screams of soldiers on the beaches of Normandy during D day "like a storm of sound that took your breath away".

As we explore the D-Day beaches  in a new atmosphere, where silence now hangs over the landscape once filled with the noise of battle, we contemplate remains of fortifications and memorials as silent witnesses to the struggle for freedom. We are transported through time, allowing us to experience places while connecting with history, whose importance still resonates today.

D-Day, which occurred on June 6, 1944, was a large-scale military operation that marked the beginning of the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II. On the 5 landing beaches approximately 150,000 Allied troops landed, and many casualties occurred.
