Last January I started to study a course at Corcoran School, a great place focus in design and arts in Washington DC. For five months I have been going to the Corcoran campus in Georgetown to improve my skills on digital design and also meet very interesting people. I was very lucky meeting my new classmates.
My experience was awesome! I have learnt how a class works in the US, and I found the system excellent for creation. Every week we made public presentations, sharing  our work in progress and exchanging views. The brainstorming made ideas flow freely, allowing your artwork reach places you would never imagine.
My story was set with this beginning: Paris, 1928, Simone de Beauvoir starts to remember her childhood while she is watching a family album. All her memories are tint in red, like the walls of the little apartment on the Boulevard Raspail...

As a final project for this course we had to develop a Graphic Novel. I felt very lucky to be able to count with my  friend Nadia as creative writer. We started working together on one of her ideas to prepare some first drafts.
The course was focused in getting used to work with graphic tablet. Something I never used before. The first days were…how can I say…tough?? Start using a tablet is just like learning to draw again!! you can’t even control your movements!!…In sum, it drives you crazy, but at the end I could domesticate it hahahahahaaa…And now... I love it!!!

We started looking for a cover that worked well  with the spirit of the story and a principal plot.

The next step was to elaborate the storyboards and first sketches of other characters. I did first doodles with Photoshop, then more clean drawings with ink and, for the finished ones, I used a mix of Photoshop and Illustrator.

For the final presentation we created a digital publication with InDesign, DPS. This is an awesome tool to read a digital book on a tablet. Here you can watch a video showing how it moves!!.
