In this particular project, there was a slight deviation from my usual routine as Niyi Okeowo took on the role of the Creative director while I worked alongside him in the same capacity. After receiving the brief, Niyi took the time to articulate his vision for the cover's direction, providing valuable insights and guidance. To further enhance my creative process, Niyi also shared a collection of reference images that served as a wellspring of inspiration. This collaborative approach allowed us to synergize our ideas, resulting in a comprehensive and enriched artistic endeavor. Together, we embarked on a creative journey, exploring possibilities and nurturing the project to its fullest potential.

The cover design for this project was conceptualized by Niyi, who drew inspiration from the esteemed Japanese artist Hiroshi Nagai. Niyi's vision revolved around combining Nagai's renowned illustration style with a vibrant and lively typography that exuded a sense of grooviness and expressiveness. The overarching goal was to visually capture the essence of a "good life." By merging Nagai's artistic aesthetic with a captivating typographic treatment, Niyi aimed to create a visually compelling composition that resonated with the concept of living a fulfilling and enjoyable existence. This fusion of styles aimed to evoke positive emotions and convey a sense of joy and satisfaction to the audience.

Once I grasped the vision and concept behind the project, I delved into creating the illustration for the cover. With a clear understanding of the desired outcome, I embarked on the creative process, channeling my illustration skills and imagination.

All of the illustrations for the project were created exclusively on my iPad using the Procreate app. While Procreate is renowned for its raster-based functionality, I found it to be a preferred choice due to its user-friendly nature. The ease of use provided by Procreate enabled me to effortlessly bring my creative ideas to life. Once the main portion of the illustration was completed, I further explored different scenes and backgrounds, experimenting with various possibilities. This allowed me to expand the visual narrative and explore alternative visual compositions that complemented the central theme of the project.

Following the completion of the illustrations and scenes, I promptly shared the illustration files with Niyi. He utilized these assets to extract specific elements that would serve as supporting visuals for the project. Additionally, Niyi took the opportunity to work on refining the font during the time I was engrossed in creating the illustrations. Remarkably, the entire process of completing the illustrations and scenes was accomplished within a single day, highlighting the efficiency and dedication applied to the project.

Throughout this process, I kept focused on creating a captivating and engaging cover artwork that was in sync with the project's vision and objectives. Overall, this was a great project, and I enjoyed collaborating with Niyi Okeowo on it.
