Snail Coin Purses

These snail coin purses were made while studying abroad in Lacoste France. The medieval village of Lacoste was populous by escargot. When it would rain the snails would come out from the flowerbeds and swarm the cobblestone streets of Lacoste. These snails are made out of cotton and wool fabric. Their shells are a floral fabric that is quilted and reflects their habitat in the flowerbeds. The snails’ antennas are constructed out of beads while their insides are lined with a grey-checkered printed fabric. Overall these snails are a unique representation of the region of Southern France and the creatures that occupy it.
