Venue - Smart commercial air sanitisation device

How can a brand modify an existing air sanitisation product to address the commercial consumer concerns of our post-COVID landscape?

For Hong Kong healthcare companies, the redesign of current commercial purification device demanded a thorough discovery process: internal physical constraints were contrasted against a complete external reskin, with modern forms prioritized.

The result, Venue, has emerged as a solution found in major malls, museums and commercial spaces across Hong Kong and the surrounding region. Boasting high-performance capabilities, a sleek, understated design, as well as customization options for brands and businesses, Venue is a comprehensive commercial answer to contemporary sanitization requirements.
Ideation

Early on, the creative direction was set on a modular and customisable front panel. The panel would be easily changed without requiring any tools.
The pain points of the original device were three-fold: a heavy footprint, a non-existent user/machine interaction and demand for commercial customisation.
Creative Direction

The original OEM device was dated, a utilitarian structure that struggled to fit into modern spaces. A comprehensive geometric reskin was necessary, resulting in Venue, an exemplary representation of intuitive product design integrating seamlessly into contemporary commercial environments.

We collaborated closely with suppliers on the activation process, balancing its sleek aesthetics with performance and functionality. Critical technology and refill tank are discretely placed within the background core, while the mirrored diffuser generates the perception that the minimalist front is the primary sanitiser.
Design

Instead of adopting the conventional air sanitisation form of a box-like structure, Venue was purposefully crafted and designed in full-length form. The reflective façade offers a first-glance impression of a head-to-toe mirror, while the minimized size impact allows for easy placement between furniture, in corners or against wall spaces.

Crucially for the device itself, the motion sensor has been strategically positioned near the centre, as this ensures accessibility for all, from children to wheelchaired elderly.
Product Architecture

While retaining the first generation components, we embarked on a meticulous journey of reorganizing the internals of the device.

With a commitment to enhancing user experience, we focused on two pivotal aspects: improving access to the refill of the tank and rethinking air circulation within the housing. Our design solution placed the fan in a thoughtfully strategic position, ensuring efficient cooling for all electronics.

The vents are strategically located at both back and bottom sections to facilitate optimal airflow. Cheery on the cake: the logotype is also disguised as side openings on either side. This arrangement of vents from all angles seamlessly covered every possible scenario for placing our exceptional device within one's room.
Customization

For leading global brands and businesses, collaboration is often determined by more than a product’s quality, with the capacity for customization frequently enhancing the cooperation process.

Venue was designed with brand optimization in mind, its mirrored façade effortlessly personalized using vinyl prints that are seamlessly attached. By catering to the diverse needs of organizations, the impression of a brand’s own proprietary product and technology is maintained, without ever sacrificing Venue’s aesthetics or performance.
Usage

Whereas Room and Alfred devices were designed to cater to homes and smaller space requirements, Venue was crafted with the specific intention of being used in larger commercial environments: malls, museums, flagship stores and other high-traffic areas.

Our team meticulously balanced design and functionality, creating a device both elegant and discrete, yet powerful and practical in its commercial-grade performance.

Mobile App

We developed Venue to be accessible via a mobile app. Users can effortlessly navigate through different modes specifically designed to cater to their sanitisation needs.

Whether it's Auto mode for regular purification, Deep Clean mode for thorough and fast cleansing, stand-by mode for energy conservation, or motion sensor only mode for on-demand scenarios, Venue has it all covered.

The key feature that truly sets Venue apart is its premium subscription option which unlocks the benefit to monitor and anticipate the consumption of the AirPRO+ solution used. This empowers users with real-time insights into their usage patterns and ensures they never run out of solution when they need it most.
