What

A series of posters inspired on famous american, british and spanish tv series. Based on different typographic treatments, and using a restrained color palette, there are two versions of each poster. The texts show famous quotes from the main characters and while some of the quotes are more or less obscure I think that anyone who has watched the series will recognize them.
Why

There were two aspects that led me to do this project. First, my idea was to make something that tapped into contemporary culture and was easily recognizable by the viewer. Second, and more importantly, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone in the creation of the posters. Illustration and hand lettering aren’t two of my strongest suits and as a result this project has been torn down to pieces only to be build almost from scratch for a couple times. This has probably been one of the most challenging self-initiated briefs I’ve made but it eventually got to the point where I felt satisfied with it.
How

The first step was to find hi-res pictures from each character. It was essential that their facial expressions conveyed an adequate mood for the poster and matched the tone of the quote used. Once properly modified using adjustment layers under Photoshop they were traced in Illustrator and sliced into 3 different colors. Text for the two versions of the poster was drawn in paper and then scanned and traced as vectors. The last step was exporting the posters as hi-res rasters into Photoshop for some texturing and filtering work.
