I was approached by Nathalie Muaroy, a family councellor, to create a brochure to go with her existant business card in January. She wanted her brochure to be contemporary, elegant & inviting.
The idea was that the brochure was going to have at least one illustration, and as I worked with Nathalie, it became increasingly clear that she knew exactly what she wanted, namely a dragonfly sitting on a lotus flower. Unfortunately, we were unable to find any appropriate stock photography (lots of dragonflies, many lotus flowers, but never one sitting on the other at a scale that would show up on print). Eventually, we combined two pictures from 123rf.com to come up with the exact illustration Nathalie had in her head.

Then in March, Nathalie got back in touch. She had only ordered a small amount of brochures, and was starting to run low on stock - but in the mean time, she had received feedback (and had observed herself) how her customers interacted with our lay out.
It turned out that:
- because the illustration was on the back of the brochure, people were putting it out the wrong way up
- some of her customers felt that the introductory questions on the first page were to "commercial", and there were too many of them
