This project, done for a university assignment, is based on the Lyrics & Type exhibition held by Australian graphic designer Timba Smits.
The idea behind the original project was to explore the communicative power of both 'music' and 'type.' Based on this I decided to centre the concept of the posters around communication. I chose the songs: Won't you tell me by Kid Cudi, Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode and Space Oddity by David Bowie, as they are themed around communication. They also span a range of decades, in an aim to appeal to music lovers of all kinds. As well as the three posters, which among others, would feature in the exhibition, I designed a promotional poster for the event. To allow for the inclusion of a range of styles within the exhibition the promo posters have been kept simple, using the two key colours which brand and unify the exhibition.
