'Wave Goodbye Kitty' A3 (420x297)
A mash up of Hokusai's famous Japanese woodcutting 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' and the much malligned Hello Kitty.
Tsukineko inks, Lumiere paints and Fabric pens on cotton, fusible web, decorative stitching and free machine stitched.

Both the light blue on the froth and the gold in the sky are metallic. If you look closely you can see the lines of stitching throughout the dark areas on the waves. The caption has been changed to read 'Wave Goodbye Kitty' in Japanese, or so I've been told :)

For more about this work you can see it's blog entry on the 'Art Quilts Around The World' group. It was designed for the group's 'Out of Asia' themed challenge.
