Maria Magdalina Cafe and Plant shop

Located almost in the heart of Tbilisi, "Maria Magdalina" cafe has a unique place, beautifully fitting into the green area on the edge of the hill. Hidden from the noise of the city, yet easily accessible to visitors.
The cafe received a two-level organization of space. On the lower level there is a kitchen and an open area for visitors (a garden), divided into terraces. On the second level there is a picturesque veranda and two small rooms, one of which houses a friendly and atmospheric plant shop.
The main task set by the architects was to make the border between the cafe premises and the environent almost imperceptible.
This was achieved through the use of natural materials and shades, rattan furniture and lamps, large areas of glazing and the old brickwork preserved where it was possible.
An important functional and at the same time expressive architectural element is the staircase connecting the lower and upper levels of the cafe.
