Hands Across Mzansi is an on going series of posters dedicated to sharing the many cultural and social gestures of South Africa through creative design. Many countries across the world have a long history of gestural communication and none more so than our beloved Mzansi. Through the creation of these posters I hope to develop a graphic dictionary to urban, cultural, and social gestural communication in South Africa, which can be shared with locals and the international visitors who would like to communicate in true Mzansi style.

And speaking of "Mzansi Style" below we have our first poster in this exciting new series. What better way to kick off this gestural series than with my all time favourite, the South African handshake.

Mzansi Style is a colourful poster infographic inspired by the famous 'African Handshake'. It demonstrates the sequence of gestures required for a successful Mzansi style handy-howdy-doo. Although this gesture is known as the 'African Handshake' I feel it is more attributed to Southern Africa, as north african culture is not always open to shaking hands with just anyone. Therefore I have dubbed it "Mzansi Style".
