Design Futuring Concept Art Worldbuilding
These illustrations were created as concept art for a worldbuilding project where groups were tasked with building a future city. The world we built was focused on progress and innovation, with a new rail system that spanned across the Earth inspired by Solarpunk aesthetics. The society values environmental preservation above all else, and often appearances do not match reality.
The idyllic underwater train tunnel is used as a government promotion for the new rail network, whereas the alternate version shows the reality of pollution and protest against the government. The final illustration depicts the use of a hydroelectric power station which is used to fuel all trains and provide clean drinking water.
