HYPER DRENCHED

As I worked on my other series, "Memories Of A Modest Reality", I think I became addicted to illustrating buildings.

The first in my Memories series, when I was developing my skills & style, or perfectly imperfect. I noticed that as I grew in skills and technique, my illustrations became too perfect. I had to really make use of brushes and perspective in Photoshop to keep the style less literal.

Eventually, I decided to make use of this more realistic style. It seemed to suit Contemporary and Brutalist architecture and so I searched those out in photos. Of course, I can't get away from the vibe of sun-drenched buildings with colours drawn from Miami and Los Angeles. This probably relates to the fact that my winters here in South Eastern Ontario are cold and grey, so it is a sort of fantasizing.

As ever, I get into periods of obsession when I create and did all of these buildings within a space of a week. I'm always excited to see what new obsession takes me in my creative work–look at my other case studies to find out! And of course, as always, comments are welcome.
