Inside of Objects: Tracing the Stories Behind Beloved Possessions
MA final diploma project

Collecting objects is a common human behaviour that has been present since ancient times. People have always had an innate desire to gather and accumulate objects that hold some kind of personal significance. In many cases, people collect objects of certain value, whether it is sentimental or monetary, and these objects become an integral part of their identity and life experience.

With that being said, it is something I wanted to focus on in this publication – the everyday passion and dedication for private possessions. Objects that, no matter how materialistically insignificant they might seem, have transformed our relationship with them because of certain, almost holistic, experiences. It’s not only a look into the objects but also a story about people, together making up the lens through which the owner is constructing their world. That is the reason why I asked the owners to draw their objects upon submission.

The publication is made up of multiple printing methods: drawings are printed in intaglio (printing matrix is acrylic glass), certain pages have embossed elements and the rest is done with Riso. Hand-bound.
The backbone and support for this project came from my MA thesis, which can be read below. In it, I also go into greater detail about the design process and choices!
